I grew up playing guitar and taught it part time for a year. The teaching itself I loved, but the job that came with it was something else entirely. Constant texts, last-minute cancellations, no-shows. Word of mouth had brought me students who weren’t fully committed, and it was slowly taking the fun out of something I cared about.
Then, a few years later, I went to Colombia to learn Spanish. It took serious research to find the right school: forums, social media, asking strangers online. But eventually I found one that genuinely changed my life. Two years later I went back, and it had closed. A place that I still think about today couldn’t fill its own calendar.
